Famous computer peripherals manufacturer Corsair keeps increasing its presence in the simracing space : after the acquisition of Fanatec 2 years ago, the company has now purchased chassis and accessories manfuacturer Trak Racer.
This move aims at creating a comprehensive offer for simracers by offering turnkey solutions, though Trak Racer will remain as a sub-brand under the Fanatec umbrella. The companies have alraedy stated that current product lineups and roadmaps for future hardware are not being affected by the purchase, but we can't help but wonder what will happen to the Fanatec cockpit or the Alpine A525 rim replica by Trak Racer.
Much like Fanatec before its acquisition, Trak Racer customer support's reputation has been divisive in the community, and is one of the talking points of the announcement. "The plan is to merge Track Racer’s call center with Corsair and operate under the same process as Corsair", which falls in line with what has happened in the last 2 years with Fanatec. Corsair also states they are planning to bring Trak Racer products to more distribution channels.
With a complete ecosystem of products, and a number of partnerships with simracing games and automotive brands, Corsair is positionning itself to become a true powerhouse in the simracing space.
