In a surprise joint announcement today, Polyphony Digital and Moza Racing announced a new partnership : Moza becomes an official partner to the Gran Turismo World Series, the official esport series of GT7 with live events around the world, starting on August 15th for round 2 of the 2026 season.
Things have been made pretty clear : Playstation compatible Moza hardware is coming. In the words of Kazunori Yamauchi, creator and producer of Gran Turismo, "the evolution of consumer-level force feedback steering that started from Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec is still ongoing, but with MOZA now joining us as a partner I’m excited to see the expanded possibilities to develop a steering wheel that is optimal in the eyes of ‘Gran Turismo’. Please look forward to the new products that will be released through MOZA". Moza's own website also explicitly mentions they are working "toward introducing [our] first officially licensed PlayStation® racing products".
This is a massive step forward for both companies, as Moza opens itself up to the largest player base in simracing, and Gran Turismo and Playstation open up to a very popular, affordable and well furnished simracing ecosystem. Looking at previous partnerships with Thrustmaster and Fanatec, we can expect existing Moza wheelbases to receive the Playstation chip, and a Gran Turismo licensed rim to be released through bundles.
Question is to know if the entire range of Moza direct drive bases will be offered with Playstation compatibility or not, but Moza has some great cards to play with a potential R3 bundle if they could keep it under 400€ - which looks possible, based on current prices for the PC only version, and considering the Playstation license markup from other brands is between 50 and 70€ on base alone, so everything would come down to how complex the official Gran Turismo rim will be. If Moza can pull that off, it could very well ring the end of belt driven wheels. In any case, the competition in the simracing hardware will be getting a notch tougher yet again.
