Today's tip may seem quite simple, but can help a lot with hitting your lines and situational awareness : looking at targets instead of staring straight ahead of you all the time. While this is commonly taught to real life drivers, this tip is also important for simracers despite it being often overlooked.
Always keep an eye on your markers. Once you start braking, aim your gaze at your turn-in point, then the apex of the corner, and once you've hit it, move your eyes towards your targeted exit point. This will naturally help you get a better and more consistent racing line. Of course, when racing, you also want to glance at your mirrors, your sides, and in general also watch the cars ahead to spot any unusual body language to predict your opponents actions and mistakes. This will save you from crashes, and allow you to seize more overtake opportunities.
Of course, finding and learning your own markers is critical, especially when approaching blind corners, where you might not see the apex or exit until the last moment. Just make sure to use fixed objects, and not shadows or anything that might move or disappear. Distance boards, marshall posts, orange markings on barriers, curbs, advertising signs, fences, patches of grass... are good examples of potential markers.
Finding backup markers is also important in case you're in a close battle and your view is obstructed by a car in front or on your side. While you want to give quick glances to the cars next to you in these situations, it's important to keep your focus on where you need to go. A quick look is generally enough to predict another car's placement and line : making sure you hit yours remains the most important.
